Venceremos? Venezuelan hotels face serious shortages of most basic amenities

Severe shortages of basic products in Venezuela have reached unprecedented levels with certain hotels now asking guests to bring their own toilet paper and soap, according to recent statements made by a hotelier.

According to an article by the Fusion website, small hotels in Merida, an area in Venezuela famous for its mountainous and picturesque scenery, are facing a hard time providing rooms with the most basic of amenities.

Xinia Camacho, the owner of a 20-room hotel near the Sierra Nevada national park said the situation is dire, as there is a serious shortage of toilet paper, soap, milk, coffee and sugar.
