Greek PM at Red Square paying homage to war heroes (photos + video)

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is in Russia for meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other officials as well as members of the Greek community. This morning he attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of the unknown soldier and met with Agni Sideridou –  the daughter of Electra Apostolou, a war hero during World War II. Sideridou waited patiently at the square before rushing to greet the Greek leader. Sideridou and acclaimed Greek writer Dido Sotiriou wrote a book about the torture and murder of her mother as a Communist Party member on July 25, 1944.

Tsipras was accompanied at the wreath-laying ceremony by a Greek government delegation as well as members of the WWII resistence and representatives of the Greek Embassy in Moscow. Tsipras said that he honors the dead from World War II who gave their lives in the war against Nazism.
