India's railway company interested in Serbian railways

BELGRADE - Indian state-owned enterprise Rites Ltd. is interested in development projects of Serbian railways and economy, the officials of this company and their partner company AFII said Tuesday while visiting Serbian Railways, the Serbian railway company stated.

Rites Ltd. was established by the government of India and, being part of Indian Railways, it is in charge of implementation of projects abroad and strengthening of international cooperation.

Rites Ltd. Executive Director S.K. Luthra introduced Serbian businessmen to the company's prospects and the prospects of Indian Railways as a whole.

Indian Railways are one of the few railway administrations in the world that produce their own rolling stock, which is why they are particularly interested in Serbia's construction of wagons.

The Indian businessmen were introduced to the Institute of Transportation CIP, Energoprojekt, Roads of Serbia, Mostogradnja and a Novi Sad-based company for construction, repair and maintenance of railways - ZGOP.

The delegation of Indian Railways is scheduled to hold meetings with officials of certain companies. They showed particular interest in the experience of the Institute of Transportation CIP and Energoprojekt in working outside Serbia.
