Foreign Nationals Leave Strife-Hit Yemen on Board Russian Plane
About 150 nationals of Russia and other countries including Bulgaria have left war-torn Yemen on board a second Russian plane on Sunday, TASS reported.
The Il-62 passenger aircraft landed at Chkalovskiy Airport near Moscow early on Sunday. This was after the second evacuation flight of a Russian plane from Yemen over the past 24 hours and the seventh one over the past two weeks.
It carried nationals of Russia, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Yemen, Syria, Egypt and Indonesia fleeing from the conflict in Yemen. Another Russian plane carrying some 150 evacuees from Yemen landed at Chkalovskiy Airport earlier on Sunday.
Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry hasn't announced yet how many Bulgarian nationals have been evacuated from Yemen on Sunday.
The Saudi-led coalition launched airstrikes against targets in Yemen at the end of March to counteract Houthi anti-government rebels backed by Iran. Over 1,000 people have died in the fighting, according to a recent Red Cross report.
With the security situation in Yemen rapidly deteriorating, some countries have almost finished evacuation of their citizens, while others have instructed their citizens to leave Yemen.
