Poll: 2nd Term of Bulgarian PM Borisov Has Higher Approval Rating

According to the latest opinion poll of Exacta, the first months of the second term of Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister garnered a higher approval rating among Bulgarians than his first tenure.

The negative views on the government's policies continued to prevail over the positive ones, with 54 % of Bulgarians expressing dissatisfaction, while 32 % were content.

However compared to his first term as Prime Minister, the second mandate of Boyko Borisov recorded a higher approval rating.

According to 36 % of Bulgarians, Borisov ruled the country better in the first months of his second term than he did in his first mandate.

The majority of the respondents - 43 % were not able to identify which of the two terms was better, while 21 % pointed to his first terms as being more successful.

The higher approval rating was largely due to Borisov being more tolerant, more prone to dialogue, more contained and more limited in his media appearances.

The opening of GERB towards more coalition partners was received well as was the reassessment of the governance priorities from the first term.

The efforts in the areas of social policy, healthcare and the fight against corruption were particularly well received.

The rating of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev decreased with 3 % in the past month, with 36 % of Bulgarians approving of his policies.

The co-chairmen of the Patriotic Front (PF), Krasimir Karakachanov and Valeri Simeonov, had the highest approval ratings among parliamentary group leaders, respectively 27 % and 25 %.

The parliamentary group leaders of GERB and the Reformist Bloc (RB), respectively Tsvetan Tsvetanov and Radan Kanev, retained their approval ratings of 21 %.
