Gojkovic:Legislation to be harmonized with EU acquis by 2018
BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic stated Thursday that the body's agenda envisages that Serbia's legislation should be fully harmonized with the EU acquis by 2018.
In the weeks to come, the parliament will discuss draft law on trial within reasonable time, the adoption of which is very important for the citizens as they mostly complain about lengthy trials, Gojkovic said late Wednesday in a TV Pink broadcast.
Speaking of the work of the current parliament, which was set up a year ago, Gojkovic said that more than 200 laws have been adopted so far.
As she put it, this fact impressed even the participants of recently held two-day conference of speakers of EU parliaments in Rome, which was also attended by parliament speakers of EU candidate countries, except for Montenegro.
Gojkovic also pointed out that on the occasion she received assurances that there are no additional requirements Serbia should meet and that the countries want first negotiation chapters to be open very soon, by which the "EU would show it acknowledges the reform processes taking place in Serbia in the last few years."
