Romanian, Moldovan ForMins: First review of Strategic Partnership on Moldova's EU Accession, highly fruitful

Foreign Minister of Romania Bogdan Aurescu and Foreign Minister of Moldova Natalia Gherman say the first stage review of the Romanian-Moldova Partnership on Moldova's European Integration, five years after establishment, is "highly fruitful," renewing their full support for promoting Moldova's European journey and winning a clear prospect for accession to the European Union.

"Today, April 27, 2015, five years have passed since the presidents of Romania and Moldova signed in Bucharest a Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Romania and Moldova on Moldova's European integration, a document that sets the medium-term development priorities in the privileged relationship between the two countries. (...) The first stage review, five years into its implementation, is highly fruitful. In the short meantime, Moldova negotiated, signed and started implementing an association agreement with the European Union, a document that paves the way for deepening political and economic integration in the [European] community space," reads a joint press statement of Aurescu and Gherman released on Monday by Romania"s Foreign Ministry (MAE).

The joint statement also mentions Moldova having at its disposal "more funds to modernise its economy, to invest in infrastructure and public services, to preserve its traditions and heritage, to improve the life of each of its citizens."

"Moldova's agriculture producers can from now on sell fruit and vegetables on the EU market, at a time when their access to some of the traditional markets is blocked by politically motivated decisions.
