Warm welcome for British Airways passengers at Herakleion airport (photos)

British Airways returned to Herakleion, Crete, after thirty years. A warm waiting was in store for the first British Airways flight carrying 120 passengers to Nikos Kazantzakis airport at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The tourists were welcomed with traditional Cretan food and drinks.

British Airways flights are expected to transport around 30,000 tourists to the island by the end of the summer season with four flights per week and extra flights expected in July and August.

Noteworthy is the fact that Lufthansa will also start flights to the Nikos Kazantzakis airport on May 23 after a 20-year absence.
