RS president, vice-president call for peace, tolerance

BANJA LUKA - The president and vice-president of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik and Ramiz Salkic respectively, condemned together on Tuesday the terrorist attack in Zvornik that left one policeman dead and two wounded, and called for peace and tolerance among citizens.

After a meeting in Banja Luka, held in view of the attack on a police station in Zvornik, they sent a message to Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats, urging peace, cooperation and living alongside each other.

Late on Monday, Bosniak Nedrin Ibric, 24, attacked the police station in Zvornik, the town in RS, and was then killed in a shootout.

Dodik said that one act should not be identified with the people that the attacker belonged to, and pointed to the need for maintaining peace and stability.

The RS vice-president underlined the need for easing tensions after the tragic event in Zvornik, and waiting on investigation results.
"The competent prosecutor has said that this is an act of terrorism," Salkic said, stressing that no one should take the law unto their own hands, but rather let the justice system deal with it.

What happened in Zvornik is not in the interest of Bosniaks as they want peace and tolerance, he said.
