Belgrade gets Science and Technology Park Zvezdara

BELGRADE - A contract on the establishment of the Science and Technology Park Zvezdara was signed in Belgrade on Wednesday.

The park should bring together high-tech development companies and hire young scientists, thus speeding up the country's technological development.

The contract was signed by Minister of Education Srdjan Verbic, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali and Belgrade University Rector Vladimir Bumbasirevic.

According to forecasts, the complex in Zvezdara, the urban neighborhood of Belgrade, should host around 100 high-tech development companies with around 1,000 engineers in three-four years' time.

This is a really big project, in which large companies would like to take part as they would operate in very stimulative surroundings, Minister Verbic said after signing the contract.

The Belgrade mayor recalled that the construction of the Science and Technology Park began 26 years ago, but that now it would finally serve its purpose, and recruit young innovation professionals, which would prevent the brain drain.
