Dikovic,Portolano discuss engagement of Serbian blue helmets

BELGRADE - The Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) Chief of Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic, has met with Major-General Luciano Portolano, the commander of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, to discuss the engagement of Serbian blue helmets in the multinational operation.

At Wednesday's meeting in Nakura, Dikovic and Portolano also discussed the political and security situation in Lebanon and the Middle East, the SAF website said on Thursday.

The SAF delegation also toured the mission's Sector West and met with its commander, Brigadier General Salvatore Cuoci.

At UN Position 1-26, General Dikovic was welcomed by SAF troops from the force protection platoon that is part of an Italian peacekeeping battalion.

On Tuesday, Dikovic visited the Serbian troops that are part of the Spanish peacekeeping battalion in the UN mission.

A total of 177 Serbian blue helmets are serving in the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
