Nearly 300k euros found hidden in German car

BELGRADE -- The Serbian Customs Administration has announced that an attempt to smuggle EUR 274,600 was prevented on Friday at the Horgos border crossing with Hungary.

The money was found in a car with German plates, hidden in the spare tire space and in a first aid kit box.

Previously, the passengers in the car said they only carried personal effects and EUR 3,000 in cash.

But when officers searched the car, they found a total of EUR 294,600.

Considering that each passenger in the car could legally take EUR 10,000 in cash out of the country EUR 20,000 was given back, while the remaining EUR 274,600 will remain confiscated until a court rules in this minor charges case.
