Vulin: Better times coming sooner than we expected

BACKA PALANKA - Minister of Labor Aleksandar Vulin stated in Backa Palanka on Friday that, thanks to good results of the Serbian government and efforts of the entire society, better times for the country are coming sooner than expected.

"We did not expect any increase in salaries and pensions in the first year of reforms, but thanks to the efforts of the entire society, we have a chance to hope for that," Vulin said at the central event marking May 1 and the Day of the Movement of Socialist he is the leader of.

The minister also said he is not content with the level of workers' rights in the country, adding there is room for improvement in the field. However, he said, he is content with the unemployment rate dropping at 16.8 percent, which is "considerably lower than when we took power in 2012."

"This still is high unemployment and therefore we fight for the situation in the field to be better as soon as possible," he stressed.

The Socialists marked the holiday by laying wreaths at the monument to Dimitrije Tucovic, the founder of organized workers' movement in Serbia.
