Fugitive Xeros nabbed thanks to tip-off, paper trail suggests

Police recaptured November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros in January after being tipped off by an informant, documents seen by Kathimerini suggest.

According to the paper trail, a few days after Xeros was arrested at a hideout in Anavyssos, east of Athens, on January 3, government officials ordered the transfer to a secret bank account controlled by the Ministry of Public Order of an amount similar to the 1-million-euro reward believed to have been offered for his capture.

After Xeros violated furlough a year earlier, then-Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias had offered 4 million euros for information that would lead to the arrest of the N17 hitman, Revolutionary Struggle terrorist Nikos Maziotis, Maziotis?s still-elusive partner Pola Roupa, and the still-unidentified assassins of two Golden Dawn members in Iraklio, Athens.
