Explosion in Ampelokipi and yafka in Pagrati: Anti-terrorist police investigation

The Anti-Terrorist Service is looking for answers to both the case of the explosion in Ampelokipi and the warehouse-yafka in Pagrati. The arrest of the 49-year-old philologist who paid the rent for the warehouse has so far given no new directions to the investigation, as he is a person who has not been previously charged with a traffic violation.

Police raid suspected terrorist hideout in Sepolia

Counter-terrorism officers in Athens have raided what they believe to be a second hideout of an escaped convict and suspected member of an urban guerrilla group who was arrested on January 30 while on the run from prison. The suspect, identified as Yiannis Michalidis, had been convicted to 13 years in prison for an armed attack against police in 2015.

Terror group accomplice breaches release terms

Greek police on Friday were seeking a 27-year-old associate of Panagiota Roupa, a leading member of the Revolutionary Struggle guerrilla group, after she violated the terms of her conditional release, failing to report to her local police station.

Constantina Athanasopoulou had been arrested in January 2017 as an associate of Roupa, herself then a fugitive.

Maziotis stabbed in prison beating, website claims

Nikos Maziotis, the self-professed leader of the Revolutionary Struggle urban guerrilla group, was attacked in Attica's Korydallos Prison with a knife by fellow inmates, according to a post on an anti-establishment website on Friday.

The post claimed that Maziotis sustained a stab wound to the stomach while "around 10 prisoners" repeatedly punched him in the head and ribs.

Uni senate calls for state protection after intrusion

The Athens University of Economics senate has reiterated its call to the Greek state to ensure the necessary conditions that will enable the institution's unhindered operation after members of anti-establishment groups stormed its lecture halls and workshops on Friday, forcing out teaching staff and students.
