Community of municipalities to be discussed soon

BELGRADE -- Direct discussions between Belgrade and Pristina on a community of Serb municipalities (ZSO) will be on the agenda of the Brussels talks within a month.

This was announced by the head of EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport.

"That is one of the key topics in the Brussels agreement, and the EU insists on its full implementation," Davenport told Vojvodina's provincial public broadcaster RTV on Monday.

There have been no direct talks between Belgrade and Pristina on the topic, he noted, adding that it is the role of the European Commission and the EU Delegation in Belgrade to back the efforts for direct discussions.

In the latest meeting that was held in April in Brussels, Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo's Prime Minister Isa Mustafa agreed to address the issue in a month's time.

"Our role is to back all these efforts and ensure that both sides implement all these very important obligations," Davenport said.
