Suicide Blast Targeting EUPOL Staff Kills at Least Three in Kabul
At least three people have been killed in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber detonated a car near Kabul main airport on Sunday morning. As many as 21 other people were wounded.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
The blast, which occurred at 9 am local time (0430 GMT), targeted a convoy of foreign troops travelling from Hamid Karzai International Airport to a NATO base nearby.
The European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL) said one member of the mission was killed and three were injured by the blast. Their injuries are not believed to be fatal, EUPOL, which advises Afghan law enforcement authorities, said in a statement.
AFP quoted Kabul hospital sources as saying two Afghan girls were killed and 18 other people, all of them civilians, were wounded by the blast.
