Liberals file censure motion in Parliament
The Liberals have filed a motion to censure the Ponta Government on Friday, with the office of the Chamber of Deputies Speaker, Valeriu Zgonea, as well as with the office of the Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu.
"It is a motion of censure that sounds like this: Victor Ponta ? dismissed for power excesses by blocking elections. The right to vote is not a slogan! We have filed a motion to censure on one of the multiple reasons for which we could have requested the dismissal of the Ponta government, for one of the reasons that seemed most serious ? the right to vote of citizens. The Ponta Government has blocked the access to vote of Romanians for the voting of mayors, for the voting of local councils, for the voting of MPs and, in November last year, he blocked the access of Romanians abroad to the vote for the President of Romania", said the first deputy chairperson of the National Liberal Party Teodor Atanasiu, after the motion was filed.
He added that he will not speak of the judiciary problems of the Prime Minister and that President Klaus Iohannis will be the one to decide if he suspends him from his position or not.
The motion was signed by 183 senators and deputies ? 169 of the National Liberal Party (PNL), 12 of the Romanian Social Party and two of the Popular and Democratic Group.
"From today we are starting a large-scale campaign to convince all MPs, regardless of the party they are part of, to vote for this motion of censure, in order to end an immense evil for Romania ? Victor Ponta and his government", said the leader of the Liberal deputies, Ludovic Orban. AGERPRES
