Romania's absorption rate of European funds was 54.42 pct as of end-May
Romania recorded a current absorption rate of European funds under the 2007-2013 financial framework of 54.42 per cent as of end-May 2015, up 0.2 per cent from end-April, according to data posted on the website of the Ministry of European Funds (MFE).
In May, MFE submitted to the European Commission expense statements of 38 million euros, which meant a total value of 10.371 billion euros and intermediary payments of 9.6 billion euros (50.37 per cent).
The total number of submitted projects was standing at 45,159, for a total value in excess of RON 341.5 billion, of which 19,352 worth nearly RON 104.6 billion were approved.
The total value of domestic payments to the beneficiaries was standing at RON 49.098 billion.
A breakdown by programmes gives the following absorption rates: operational programme regional development 62.99 per cent; operational programme the environment 45.03 per cent; operational programme transport 58.79 per cent; operational programme competitiveness 58.15 per cent; operational programme rural development 46.53 per cent; operational programme administrative capacity 80.38 per cent, and operational programme technical assistance 62.24 per cent.
