Romania's Ungur advances to second round of Caltanissetta ATP Challenger 2015
Romania's tennis player Adrian Ungur, 30, advanced to the second round of the men's single event at the 106,500-euro Caltanissetta ATP Challenger 2015 tournament in Italy after defeating French Maxime Hamou, 20, on Monday, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Ungur, ranked 193rd in the ATP ranking, needed two hours and ten minutes to defeat number 232 in the world's ranking.
For his results so far, Ungur has secured 1,830 euros and 10 ATP points. In the second round, he meets Brazil's Guilherme Clezar, seeded number 9. Ungur and Clezar met twice before, with Clezar, 22 and ATP's no 168, defeating Ungur in the 1st round of the Porto Alegre tournament in 2012 and Ungur defeating the Brazilian in the 2013 edition of the ATP Challenger Tour Finals in Sao Paulo.
Romania's Victor Hanescu, 33 and ATP's no 193, will play Portuguese Gastao Elias, 24 and no 155 in ATP's ranking and the eight favourite of the tournament. The Portuguese defeated the Romanian in the single's event of the 2012 ATP Challenger Tour Finals 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, while Hanescu won against Elias in the qualifying round of the 2014 Portugal Open tournament 6-1, 7-5.
Romania's men's double Ungur and Costin Paval are the third favourites to win the men's doubles event of the same tournament, and they will play against Swedish double Andreas Siljestrom/Elias Ymer. AGERPRES
