PNL's Gorghiu: I appeal to MPs in ruling coalition to act like responsible persons

"Today the Parliament of Romania has the chance to regain its honor. Three days before, the Chamber of Deputies decided that the Prime Minister of Romania is not equal in rights with the citizens of Romania, and that the majority in Parliament has nothing to do with the majority of Romanians. Today we have the chance to prove that the Parliament is not solidary all the way with hypocrisy and abuse. The motion today has at its center a matter that is as concrete as possible, the right to vote, but, at the same time, it proposes to eliminate, through the dismissal of the Ponta Government, all the political deviations of this undemocratic and anti-citizen regime", said Gorghiu.

The co-chairperson of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Alina Gorghiu, has stated on Friday, in the plenum of Parliament, during the debate on the motion of censure, that MPs have the chance to prove that the Legislative "is not solidary with abuse and hypocrisy" and appealed to the deputies and senators of parties in the governing coalition "to act like responsible persons".

In her opinion, Prime Minister Victor Ponta has no sort of legitimacy left.

"The world has not started and will not end with Victor Ponta, but today I believe we can end the cruelty to democracy. The current Prime Minister has no sort of legitimacy left, no legitimacy to remain in power because last year it was invalidated through vote, it has no more institutional legitimacy because it does not recognize the judicial power in the Romanian state, it has no national legitimacy because it pits Romanians against other Romanians, and, unfortunately, it has no moral legitimacy because it was invested by another majority than the current one", said the PNL leader.
