Bulgaria Beats Germany 3:0 at Volleyball European Championship

Bulgaria's men's volleyball team has secured an easy victory over Germany in the first match of the European Volleyball Championship in Arena Armeec Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Bulgarians defeated Germany in all three games 25:20, 25:17, 25:20 in front of an audience of at least 12 000 where Bulgarian fans prevailed.

This paved Bulgaria's way into the quarterfinals, with the German coach telling public broadcaster BNT the opponent's team had clearly been "the better one" and voicing his surprise at the result. 

Asked to comment after the match, Bulgarian players said they were already looking at the next encounters with the Czech Republic and the Netherlands - two strong contenders within Pool C.
