Golden Globes: Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant wins big
In a night full of surprises, “The Revenant” and “The Martian” dominated the top film awards at the 73rd Golden Globes.
Leonardo DiCaprio, who starred in the historical drama, won the Best Actor award while Alejandro González Iñárritu was awarded the gong for Best Director, at the ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
The Revenant took the biggest award of the night as it was named the Best Picture Drama, beating out Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, Room, and Spotlight.
Sylvester Stallone received the best supporting actor trophy in Creed, reprising his iconic role of a kind-hearted, working class boxer.
“Most of all, I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had,” Stallone said, thanking the character he has played in seven films over 40 years.
In the comedy category, Jennifer Lawrence won the best actress in comedy for Joy, about a woman who founds a business dynasty, and Matt Damon won the best actor in comedy for his role as an astronaut in The Martian.
