Greek gov’t hired German consultants for privatizations

Greek government had hired German consultants last year in order to help them with the privatizations, as Greek newspaper TA NEA reports today.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis had contacted GoetzPartners so as the company to provide Greece its expertise for the HRADF.

Proto Thema newspaper wrote in May 29, 2015 about the cooperation between SYRIZA government and GoetzPartners, as well as the Renaissance project.

The Germans had even made a proposal to use the HRADF as a mean to attract investments. Their proposal was accepted in principle by the Finance Minister, but, it was not submitted to the government’s cabinet, either because Mr. Tsipras feared the reaction of the left-wing of SYRIZA party, or because he did not want people say that he accepted a suggestion proposed by Germans. Instead Alexis Tsipras chose to hold a referendum.
