Wounded police officer, soldier die eight days after PKK attacks
One police officer and one soldier have succumbed to their injuries sustained eight days ago in attacks by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey's southeastern provinces of ??rnak and Diyarbak?r.
The police officer, 24-year-old Tayfun Yüce, was wounded on Feb. 1 as PKK militants detonated an improvised explosive device during the passing of an armored police vehicle in the Ataken neighborhood of ??rnak's ?dil district.
Yüce was taken to the Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) in Istanbul for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries early on Feb. 9.
Yüce's funeral will take place in his home Ceyhan district in the southern province of Adana.
Meanwhile, one soldier wounded in a PKK attack in the Sur district of Diyarbak?r on Feb. 1 also succumbed to his injuries at GATA, the General Staff announced on Feb. 9.
