Policeman injured in PKK attack succumbs to wounds

A special operations officer who was wounded in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack on Feb. 5 has succumbed to his injuries at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) where he was being treated. 

The officer, identified as 41-year-old Kemal Y?lmaz, was wounded in a PKK attack in the southeastern province of ??rnak's Cizre province. 

Y?lmaz was sent to GATA's hospital in Ankara for treatment but he died of his injuries exactly a week after the attack.

A policeman for 17 years, Y?lmaz was sent to Cizre on temporary duty on Dec. 12.
