Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam arrested during Brussels raid

Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam has been wounded in the leg and arrested in a police raid in the Molenbeek area of Brussels.

“We got him,” the Belgian secretary of state for asylum and migration tweeted, confirming reports of Belgian media that claimed that Abdeslam had been caught alive.

Abdeslam is believed to be one of the main suspects for the Paris attacks in which 130 people died last November.

French president François Hollande confirmed earlier that an operation was under way in Brussels linked to the Paris attacks, without though confirming whether Abdeslam was shot and arrested.

The police operation in Molenbeek was launched when Belgian prosecutors confirmed that Abdeslam’s fingerprints were found at the apartment that was raided in Brussels on Tuesday, when two suspects fled that raid.
