Bulgaria President Appoints Economic Advisor to C-Bank

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev is set to appoint one of his advisers to the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), his press office has said.

Elitsa Nikolova has worked as adviser on economy, regional development and infrastructure with the President since January 2012.

Prior to that, she worked in the area of corporate finance for nine years before taking up a job at the Regional Development Minister.

Nikolova is due to assume office on June 17,  2016, after the second term of Stati Statev, one of the incumbent Governing Council members (and the Provost of the University for National and World Economy in Sofia), expires on the previous day.

Under the Bulgarian National Bank Act, all members of the central bank's Governing Council, with the exception of the Governor and the Deputy Governors, are appointed by the Bulgarian President.
