Six arrested in connection to Bursa suicide attack
A total of six suspects who were detained in connection to the suicide bomb attack in the northwestern province of Bursa were arrested on late May 1.
A total of 17 suspects, eight of whom were female, were transferred to court after their proceedings at the security general directorate.
A local court then ruled for the arrest of suspects Emine K. and her daughter Tuba K., Ümmü Gülsün M., Zekiye Z., Mithat T. and ?sa C.
It was revealed that Emine K. had delivered the explosive to Ümmü Gülsün M. in Istanbul as she brought it to Bursa. Accordingly, the female suicide bomber stayed at the house of Mithat T. in Bursa's Görükle neighborhood and ?sa C. had brought her to southeastern ?anl?urfa from the Viran?ehir district. A fingerprint belonging to the other suspect, Tuba K., was found on the bag which housed the explosive device.
Police had detained 17 suspects during operations conducted in the provinces of Bursa, Mardin, ?anl?urfa, ?zmir, Istanbul and Afyonkarahisar following the attack.
The female suicide bomber killed herself and wounded 13 others in a suicide attack outside Bursa's historic Ulu Mosque on April 27.
According to reports citing intelligence sources, the attacker was identified as Suzan B. However, the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK) - an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated group - claimed responsibility for the attack on May 1, naming the suicide bomber as a 23-year-old woman named Eser Cali.
