Nation marks Great Offensive with week-long events
Türkiye is commemorating the 102nd anniversary of the Great Offensive, the largest and final military operation of Türkiye's War of Independence, with a series of events in the western city of Afyonkarahisar.
Led by modern Türkiye founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the offensive began on Aug. 26, 1922, and culminated in a victory against the Kingdom of Greece within five days.

Seven ISIL terrorists planning to carry out suicide attacks in metropolitan cities have been caught in simultaneous operations conducted in seven provinces.
The proceedings of the suspects caught in the operations held in the provinces of Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Bursa and Adana continue at the provincial gendarmerie commands.
Turkey's ski resort listed as top European destination
The Erciyes Ski Resort in central Turkey will be included in the prestigious European Destinations of Excellence Network (EDEN) for sustainable tourism.
The resort in Kayseri province was among the top five destinations from the 30 entries from Turkey, according to a statement from the local municipality on Jan. 13.

Turkey puts 28 new power plants into operation in February: Ministry
Turkey put 28 new power plants into operation in February with 316.7 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, of which 94 percent came from local resources, data from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry showed on March 6.
Turkey's current installed electricity capacity reached 78,915 MW with the newly added capacity by the end of February.

There are more than 35 000 people in detention in Turkey more than three months after this year's attempted coup, says Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ, noting that a further 4,000 remain under investigation.
Six arrested in connection to Bursa suicide attack
A total of six suspects who were detained in connection to the suicide bomb attack in the northwestern province of Bursa were arrested on late May 1.
A total of 17 suspects, eight of whom were female, were transferred to court after their proceedings at the security general directorate.

Dog fight gang members detained in Denizli
Gendarmerie forces saved 60 dogs in an operation against dog fights in the Aegean province of Denizli on Dec. 2.
Around 80 gendarmerie forces raided an area in the Gökbaşlı neighborhood of the Çivril district, where they learnt that a group was forcing dogs to fight and gamble over it.
