Spanovic triumphs at Diamond League opening in Shanghai

SHANGHAI - Serbia's Ivana Spanovic won the long jump event at the start of this season's Diamond League in Shanghai on Saturday.

Spanovic produced a 6.95 m leap - her second-best result this season and a new record at the Shanghai meeting - also winning the first ten points.

Canadian Christabel Nettey came second with a 6.75 m jump, with American Tianna Bartoletta finishing third with an equal jump length.

Spanovic is the current world vice-champion.
