Miltiadis Tentoglou has been recognized as the top athlete in the Balkans for 2024. The greatest long jumper on the planet and one of the top athletes in all disciplines over the past four years was awarded at the Balkan Union Gala, which took place on Saturday night in Sofia.

Miltiadis Tentoglou wins gold in men’s long jump
Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou won the gold medal in the men's long jump final at the 2024 Summer Olympics, in Saint-Denis, with a jump of 8.48 meters on Tuesday.
Jamaican Wayne Pinnock took silver, and Italy's Mattia Furlani claimed bronze.
Speaking to the ERT public broadcaster after the event, Tentoglou said, "I am very happy, but I feel I could have achieved even more."

Serbian long jumper Vuleta wins Diamond League
EUGENE - Serbia's Ivana Vuleta won the long jump event at the Diamond League in Eugene, US, after producing a 6.85 m leap in her last attempt in the final on Sunday.
Vuleta was tied in the first place with Nigerian Ese Brume but won due to a better second-best attempt (6.77 m compared to 6.69 m by Brume).
American Quanesha Burks took the third place with a 6.77 m jump.

Tentoglou wins long jump gold with final leap
Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece won long jump gold at the World Championships on Thursday as his final leap of 8.52 metres edged him ahead of long-time leader Wayne Pinnock of Jamaica.
Last year's silver medallist Tentoglou got the event off to a flier as he produced a huge season's best 8.50 with his opening jump, only for Pinnock to match it in the second round.

Spanovic triumphs at Diamond League opening in Shanghai
SHANGHAI - Serbia's Ivana Spanovic won the long jump event at the start of this season's Diamond League in Shanghai on Saturday.
Spanovic produced a 6.95 m leap - her second-best result this season and a new record at the Shanghai meeting - also winning the first ten points.

BELGRADE - Long jump world record holder Galina Chistyakova is the promoter of the 28th Belgrade Marathon, to be held on Saturday, April 18.
Chistyakova is coming to Belgrade for the second time since 2008, when she was the promoter of the women's race, Belgrade Marathon Director Dejan Nikolic told a press conference on Monday.

Serbian wins gold at EIAC, sets new national record
PRAGUE -- Ivana Spanovic broke her previous national record and won the gold medal in the women's long jump final at the European Athletics Indoor Championships (EAIC).
Spanovic jumped 6.98 meters.
