Jeremic remains third in vote to select new UN secretary-general
NEW YORK - A fourth round of the vote to select the new UN secretary-general was held at the UN headquarters in New York Friday, with former Portuguese PM Antonio Guterres still leading the race as Serbia's candidate Vuk Jeremic remains in third position, but with two more encourage votes than in the previous round.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed information, Guterres received 12 encourage, 2 discourage and one no opinion vote, followed by Slovak FM Miroslav Lajcak with 10 encourage, four discourage and one no opinion vote, with Jeremic receiving nine encourage, four discourage and two no opinion votes - his best result so far.
Former Macedonian FM Srgjan Kerim is in fourth with eight encourage, seven discourage and zero no opinion votes, followed by Argentine FM Susana Malcorra with seven encourage, seven discourage and one no opinion vote.
