Anonymous denunciations to be discarded in post-coup probes: Turkish PM
Anonymous denunciations will be discarded in probes into the Fethullahist Gülenist Organization (FETÖ), believed to have masterminded Turkey's July 15 failed coup attempt, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said, adding that "unjust treatment" was resulting from some of the testimonies.
"For example, some who hate each other, or who simply disagree on things, or those who want to replace others in their positions, may denounce their rivals with the benefit of anonymity. Unjust treatment is the result," Yıldırım told reporters in Ankara on Sept. 23, adding that a regulation was being prepared to address this issue.
"These anonymous denunciations are the biggest illnesses in the bureaucracy at the moment. We are therefore preparing a regulation to ensure that denunciations made without address, identification or location are ignored ... In order to prevent unjust treatment we will evaluate denunciations only based on serious documents and information. Anonymous denunciations with abstract allegations both harm the addressee and have a negative effect on the general productivity of the bureaucracy," he added.
Meanwhile, Yıldırım also poured cold water on recent media reports suggesting an impending cabinet reshuffle.
"Things are going well. When you [reporters] don't have anything to do, you bring up new issues," he said.
