616 local officials reshuffled in Turkey
The Turkish Interior Ministry reshuffled 616 local officials with a decree issued on Dec. 1, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Some 369 district governors and 106 deputy governors were appointed to new posts, while 75 district governors and deputy governors were reassigned as provincial legal advisers, according to the decree.
Twelve local authorities' place of duty also were also altered as part of the decree. Some 30 district governors and deputy governors were reassigned to the ministry.
The decree regarding the reshuffle was published in the official Gazette on Dec. 1.
The acting mayor of Derik in Mardin, Hakan Kafkas, was assigned to the Derik District Governor's in place of Muhammed Fatih Safitürk, who was killed in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack on Nov. 11 after he was named as a trustee to the local municipality following the ouster of the town's democratically elected leaders.
Two women officials were also part of the reshuffle, as Düzce Deputy Gov. Selda Dural was reassigned as Yenimahalle district governor in Ankara, while Hayrat, Trabzon, District Gov. Tuğba Genç was reassigned as Evren district governor in Ankara.
