KKE claims phones at its headquarters are being tapped

The Supreme Court has ordered an investigation into claims by the Greek Communist Party (KKE) on Thursday that the telephones at its central headquarters in Perissos have been wiretapped, as it frequently experiences crossed lines, notably involving the office phones of other parties.

The government also said that it will investigate the "very serious" claims. For its part, opposition New Democracy said it was "inconceivable that phone conservations of parties or individuals are being tapped."

KKE said that the problem has been experienced so many times that it could not be explained away as a coincidence, insisting something more sinister was at play, like wiretapping.

According to a statement issued by the party, the alleged wiretapping was being conducted by "an unknown center."
