Today is Orthodox Christmas Eve

BELGRADE - Orthodox believers in Serbia today celebrate Christmas Eve, when in temples and homes they burn Yule logs and have services on the eve of the Christian holiday - Christmas.

On Orthodox Christmas Eve believers go into the forest to get oak tree - Yule, which they burn in the evening on a fireplace at home, as a symbol of light and warmth that warms and brings together family members.

Christmas is a family holiday and is celebrated at home. It is believed that on this day all those who were in strife during the year should reconcile and forgive offenses.
