Turkish shopkeeper files complaint against Dutch king, PM, other officials over ban on ministers
A shopkeeper in the Kahta district of the southeastern province of Adıyaman has filed a criminal complaint against the Netherlands's king, prime minister and other government officials after Turkish ministers were banned from entering the country, escalating tensions between the Netherlands and Turkey, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Following the Dutch move on Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Family Minister Fatma Betü Sayan Kaya, shopkeeper Mehmet Öztürk filed his complaint to the prosecutor against Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Prime Minister Mart Rutte, Dutch Interior Minister Ronald Plasterk, Foreign Minister Bert Koenders and Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb.
Öztürk told the agency that the Netherlands tried to humiliate Turkey and the government with its "inhumane treatment" while also violating the European Convention on Human Rights.
"As a Turkish citizen, I was greatly disturbed by the ugly attacks of the Netherlands, especially against Minister Kaya, her bodyguards and advisers," he said.
