The MUP Emergency Situations Sector has warned local headquarters to raise the level of preparedness in view of the forecasts announcing heavy precipitation.

According to the Sector's chief, Predrag Maric, the rivers Western (Zapadna) Morava and Kolubara and their tributaries will be monitored around the clock for as long as such weather persists.

The Hydro-Meteorological Institute (RHMZ) warned earlier in the day that around 20 liters of water per square meter are expected on Tuesday evening, overnight, and on Wednesday morning in most areas of Serbia, and over 30 liters per meter in some areas.

Between 10 and 30 centimeters of snow will fall on hills and mountains on Wednesday and Thursday, when wet snow is also expected in Belgrade.
