Average tax due so far is 620 euros/taxpayer

Just 5 percent of income tax declarations had been submitted up until last Friday, according to the data of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue. A total of 368,537 statements had been filled in, the majority of which require neither a rebate nor the payment of further taxes.

The processing of the declarations submitted on Taxisnet showed that 198,269, or 53.8 percent, will not entail further payments by the taxpayer or the state. Just under a third of statements (112,673 or 30.57 percent) require the payment of more tax in addition to what has already been withheld. This amounts to 69.8 million euros and averages at 620 euros for each taxpayer.

The other 57,595 taxpayers (15.63 percent) who have already submitted their declarations will have tax credit paid into their bank accounts, totaling 18 million euros. This means an average of 312 euros per taxpayer ...
