Tanin: Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in abeyance

NEW YORK - The Belgrade-Pristina dialogue has "practically stood in abeyance for some months now," Zahir Tanin, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of UNMIK, told the UN Security Council Tuesday, condemning a descent of public communications "back to intolerant and ethno-nationalist slogans."

At a session on the UN Secretary-General's report on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and the work of UNMIK for the period between January 16 and April 15, Tanin said a resumption of the dialogue is "of the highest importance" and that "constructive engagement continues to be possible."
