Serbian ambassador to Zagreb declines to accept protest note

BELGRADE - Serbian Ambassador to Croatia Mira Nikolic on Thursday declined to accept Zagreb's note of protest over an allegedly ethnically motivated incident in Sonta, northwestern Serbia.

Nikolic, who was summoned to the Croatian Foreign Ministry, said that, after all checks and interviews with a large number of potential witnesses and people involved in the incident - who also gave statements to authorities - it had been established the conflict was not motivated by the ethnicity of the perpetrator or the aggrieved party, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
