Police find mortar shell on the capital's Filopappou Hill

Police cordoned off a section of Filopappou Hill near central Athens on Thursday following the discovery in the early afternoon of a mortar shell.

The shell was found by police who had been on patrol in the area in the early afternoon.

A military unit was dispatched to the area to collect the missile which will be examined by bomb experts before being destroyed in a controlled explosion.
