Growing Fires in California

Hundreds of homes are endangered, and piles of thick smoke rises near San Francisco. According to the local fire department, about 29,000 hectares of oak forests, shrubs and grass are affected.

Firefighters are struggling with high temperatures, low humidity and winds.
