No requests for assistance from Romanian citizens in aftermath of wildfires in Greece
The Embassy of Romania in Athens is focused on the events that ensued recent wildfires in Greece, trying to find out if there are Romanians among the affected persons. So far, no requests for consular assistance have been registered, according to Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE).
"Representatives of the diplomatic mission undertook, as a matter of urgency, steps with the local authorities in order to obtain additional information regarding the existence of Romanian citizens among the affected persons. So far, no consular assistance requests have been received at the embassy level," according to MAE.
The diplomatic mission is in constant contact with a task force activated by the Greek Foreign Ministry.
MAE says affected Romanians may request consular assistance by dialling the following telephone numbers of the Embassy of Romania in Greece: +30 210 6728879, +30 210 6744544, with the calls being forwarded to the Contact and Support Centre for the Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and taken over by call Centre operators around the clock; they can also call the emergency number of the diplomatic mission: +30 697 8996222.
The Romanian Embassy in Athens is monitoring the developments as a priority, while keeping in touch with local authorities, ready to provide consular assistance if the situation calls for it, according to MAE.
