One injured as train rams car in Athens

A train smashed into a car early Saturday morning at the junction of the Konstantinoupoleos and Plataion streets in Athens, resulting in injuries to the driver of the vehicle.

According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, the incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. and the driver was extracted from the battered car by a crew of nine firefighters.

It was not clear how the accident occurred and authorities launched an investigation.
