EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel: Mobile Data Prices with Macedonia and Serbia will Fall from July 1
Reducing roaming prices with neighboring Macedonia and Serbia continues to be a top priority in the work of the Bulgarian commissioner for digital economy and society, Mariya Gabriel. Today she is in Kyustendil and she has a conversation with students of "Dr. Peter Beron" Language School, which she graduated, the theme is "Young People in the Digital World".
"For the price reduction to happen, we start with mobile data from July 1, 2019, with the megabyte cost getting 70 eurocents compared to now 12-14 euros. We are due to sign the new regional roaming agreement at the Digital Summit in Belgrade, covering the six countries and now in force since 2014, for 4 of them, but Albania and Kosovo are not included.
What operators clearly set out is that there is a new regional roaming agreement covering the six countries. Then we can now move on to reduce prices between the EU and the Western Balkans, "said Gabriel Gabriel in response to a question from Darik.
Next week there will be a meeting, within the European Bureau of Regulators and their plenary session in Budapest, to finalize the latest technical details of the process.
