Germany to bar Chinese tech giants from its 5G network
Germany will bar the use of critical components made by Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE in core parts of the country's 5G networks in two steps starting in 2026, the nation's top security official have said.
Germany, which has Europe's biggest economy, has long mulled what to do about components made by Chinese suppliers in its new-generation cellphone networks.

Huawei renews patent licensing deal with Ericsson
Chinese telecoms giant Huawei said on Aug. 25 it had renewed a licensing agreement with Ericsson to use each other's technologies, in a rebuff to U.S. warnings about the risk of espionage by Beijing.
Huawei has been at the center of an intense technological rivalry between China and the United States, which suspects the company of spying for Beijing, accusations Huawei denies.

Ljubljana – The national Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) has published a call for a public auction of 5G frequencies. Those interested have until 1 February to submit their bids, while the auction is expected to take place in March or April.

Greece has raised 372.26 million euros ($453.78 million) from granting rights for the use of different bands for the development of 5G networks, its telecoms regulator (EETT) said on Wednesday.

Telenor Bulgaria commenced its series of practical 5G technology tests by introducing the first remote medical exam over 5G in Bulgaria. During the event, Telenor also made its first 5G video call in Bulgaria. This was the first in a series of practical 5G tests which Telenor will make across the country in the coming months after it received test spectrum three weeks ago.
