Trabzonspor win Turkish Süper Lig title, for first time in 38 years

Trabzonspor on April 30 won the Turkish Süper Lig title for first time in 38 years as they clinched the trophy with three matches to spare.

Fans from the Black Sea team flooded the pitch to celebrate the triumph minutes before the end of a 2-2 home draw against Antalyaspor.

It is the club's seventh league title in its history, and first since 1984.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took to Twitter to congratulate the club and its fans "with my most heartfelt feelings", using a hashtag #SampiyonTrabzonspor (#ChampionTrabzonspor in English).

Trabszonspor fans also took to Taksim square in Istanbul to celebrate the title.
