Vucic: We will fight to be named Expo 2027 host

BELGRADE - Serbia will fight for Belgrade to be named the host of Expo 2027, which would mean a tourism boom for the country, President Aleksandar Vucic said at the opening of the 44th International Tourism Fair on Wednesday evening.

He said substantial funds would be invested in development of tourism infrastructure to give the Expo bid a boost, as well as to increase tourism revenues in the future.

"It would be of huge significance for Serbia and it would bring huge revenues and a true tourism boom for our country. Our estimate is that we can finish ahead of the rest - ahead of Argentina and Minnesota, US, and our estimate is that the key rival is Malaga, Spain, but I believe we can beat them since Malaga and Seville have each hosted the great Expo once," Vucic said.
